What to expect in Ceramics 2:
Having achieved a foundation in handbuilding techniques, students will be encouraged to use such techniques as tar paper armatures, stragiffo relief carving using slip layering, and slab building to begin to work in creating work that has a theme or central design. If the state of the pandemic allows, we are hoping to get some work on throwing on the wheels as well.
We will also be studying the work of contemporary handbuilders, potters, and ceramic artisans in order to gain an understanding of their work and process.
