Step #2: Watch

Step#3: Watch and DO:                  Reminder: It doesn't work well to put the texture on the box IF the mat is under it.

Step #4: When the box is the way you want it place it WITHOUT a bag on the clay cart so that gets leatherhard. (Make sure your name is on a piece  of tape beside your box.)

 Step #5: When your box is leatherhard get with Mrs. Dennis to cut the top off.

Step #6: Hollow out the box using loop tools from the sink counter bins.

                    Hints for hollowing out:

      *  Make sure not to touch the cut portion of your lid or box.                  (Be sure to not put the lid face down on the table.)

       *  Work slowly and intentionally

       *   Pay attention to the corners of your box.

       (If too much clay is left in the corners it can cause cracking.)

         *   Recycle the clay you carve out of your box; Keep it in shavings,                    dampen it gently and place it in one of the moist clay bags for reuse.

Step#7: After the inside of the box is carved, gently place and fit the lid back on top of the box.  Make sure the edges meet well.

Step #8: Carve your name and class code into the bottom of your box with a pencil.
