Middle School Art

In middle school the art studio serves as a venue for self exploration and expression as students continue to grow in individual ways.   Subject matter is student driven as growing artists are expected to achieve a greater sense of autonomy.  Middle school art students will use the art vocabulary they have developed to create work that speaks about the way they view the world.  They are expected to collaborate with their peers to critique through the creative processes as they develop their own independent body of work to be displayed at the end of each semester.  They experience a wide breadth of media and process.

Kristin Dennis has been teaching art for 24 years.   She and her husband have chosen to raise their three children in the Valley.  Every lesson she creates is geared toward the success of every student.   Students in her program explore the elements and principles of art through their experiences drawing, painting, using color theory, working with ceramics, printmaking, and composition.  Her students are encouraged to create work that speaks about their interests and viewpoints.  They are exposed to art history influences as well as the techniques and practices of contemporary artists.  "In today's world there are some common skills every person needs to harness in order to find success regardless of what an individual chooses to do as a career."
